Laura Arth

Founder, Triangulate

Laura is a seasoned hospitality industry veteran with expertise in team management, meetings, conventions, and overall organizational marketing strategy.

Prior to founding Triangulate, Laura served at Associated Luxury Hotels International (ALHI) for 17 years in a variety of capacities, most recently as Regional Vice President of Sales for its Mid-Atlantic Region at ALHI’s Global Sales office in Washington, DC. She led a team of ten ALHI Global Sales professionals and provided the region’s association executives, meeting professionals, business executives, and incentive specialists with ALHI’s Global Sales Organization services and support.

A prominent executive with a stellar reputation and exceptional sales and managerial skills, Laura was enthusiastically welcomed back to ALHI in March 2013 when she rejoined the organization. During a few years away, she formed a successful private company. Arth Capital Consulting provided meeting and convention management domestically and abroad. The company also developed and launched a meeting and convention industry website.  Prior to her departure from ALHI, she served as Vice President of Sales and later as Vice President of Sales and Marketing.

Known for being a tireless advocate for her clients, with a true passion to serve, Laura is an effective and solutions-oriented professional and team leader who is a valuable asset to her clients. Laura recently served on the advisory board for the National Capital Chapter Alzheimer’s Walk. She has been involved with a number of industry organizations from ASAE to PMPI to AMP’s. Additionally, she has served on the hospitality board of James Madison University, receiving their highest volunteer honor. She is a past member of the University Club of Washington, DC’s Board of Governors and Foundation Board. She still enjoys a prominent role in the Foundation’s Annual Cigar Dinner Fundraiser.

Laura enjoys a good game of bridge, attending Nationals’ and Capitals’ games, traveling to thoroughbred horse racing events, and hitting Cornhusker sporting events whenever possible.  She earned a B.S. in International Business from the University of Nebraska and resides in Alexandria, VA.

Lani Gering

Vice President, Triangulate

Lani brings decades of hands on management & communications expertise to Triangulate.  As the co-owner of OTC Media, LLC, the parent company of the Old Town Crier Regional Magazine, she understands the importance of maintaining brand image, expanding your market and meeting multiple important deadlines.

The Old Town Crier (OTC), celebrating 30 years, is a preeminent monthly magazine in the DMV with distribution from the Chesapeake Bay to the Blue Ridge Mountains and beyond.  Lani’s primary role at the OTC is fairly wide in scope. From the establishment of content to overseeing the layout, design and distribution, she is an expert in the nuts and bolts of print publications.

Over the years, Lani has provided her talents in a variety of leadership roles. She spent 18 years with the United States Department of Agriculture in several positions before taking the buyout in 1994 to embark on her adventure with the OTC. During her tenure as a civil servant she went from typing and filing to managing and coordinating several nationwide training conferences for employees coming from all over the United States. She comes to Triangulate with a “grass roots” attitude.

Lani grew up in southeastern Wyoming in a small town farming community, attended the University of Wyoming and is a very proud Wyoming Cowboy fan.  She currently resides in National Harbor, MD.  Her passions include sailing, fine dining and her many long-time friends from all over the USA.

Brian Knapp

President, IMN Solutions

Brian Knapp has been with IMN Solutions for 30 years and was named President of IMN Solutions in January 2012.

Knapp has dedicated his professional life to building and expanding IMN Solutions into a global full-service association management company with specialized expertise in site selection, contract negotiation, housing management and registration solutions. IMN Solutions books more than one million room nights annually representing over $150 million in revenue each year.

IMN Solutions maintains offices just outside Washington, DC, with regional offices headquartered in New York, West Virginia, California, Montana, Maryland, North Carolina, Colorado, Kentucky, Florida and an international office in Mougins, France.

Active in the meetings industry as well as his community, Knapp is a member of the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA), American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) and the Religious Conference Management Association (RCMA).

Knapp serves on the advisory boards for the Baltimore Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Cleveland Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Loews Customer Advisory Board, and the Hyatt Customer Advisory Board. He also serves on the planning committee the United Bank Charity Golf Classic supporting the Inova Kellar Center in Fairfax, Virginia.

Knapp is a graduate of Towson State University, and he resides in Alexandria, Virginia.

 

Heather Ailstock

CEO & Founder, Starworks Media

With over 25 years of working in the graphic design and photography field, Heather's true passion is creating that special, customized product that reflects her client’s identity and supports their strategic vision. As a fulltime freelancer, she created her own company in 2013, StarWorks Media. She has a track record of creating successful marketing materials, having worked with a widely diversified group of clients.

She’s had the pleasure to design marketing pieces, store displays, video, animation and social media for many organizations and companies such as Anne Arundel Community College, Arundel Savings Bank, Chesapeake Wallcoverings, Coldwell Banker, Cotton USA, Crofton Physical Therapy, Eye Bank Association of America, Mary Kay Cosmetics, The Society of Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions, Triangulate, Vocelli’s Pizza and many more. Her work has been featured in a wide variety of stores such as Home Depot, Lowes, Cabela’s, Sherwin Williams, Menards and Sutherlands.

Heather has also received several awards of excellence for her graphic design work from the American Graphic Design Awards competition and the USA Inhouse Design Award competition. For this award, her work was chosen from over 8,000 entries from advertising agencies, graphic design firms, corporations, associations, universities, government and publishers.

Heather received her Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design from Towson University, but is always continuing to learn new technical design solutions as technology platforms are always changing.

Heather resides in Crofton, Maryland with her husband, Matt and two daughters, Ava and Autumn. In her free time, she loves to travel, enjoys photography, cooking, and DIY interior design projects.

Dan Sims

Principal, Worldwide Speakers Group

Dan Sims is renowned in the talent, association, academic and corporate communities as a trusted partner and outstanding leader. Throughout his notable career, he has consistently booked and recruited former heads of state, sports Hall-of-Famers, business-thought leaders, industry captains, Hollywood celebrities, government and military officials and top industry experts for a wide range of organizations. Mr. Sims brings a wealth and depth of professional relationships and innovative marketing ideas to the WWSG team.

He has published articles in national and trade publications on sales, management and leadership, which have appeared in The Meeting Professional and Meeting & Conventions. He’s been featured in several local, regional and national media. A fervent supporter of the profession, he has personally led sponsorships for a number of professional industry groups.

Some top regional and national associations he has worked with include the National Association of Realtors, American Nurses Association, Society for Human Resource Management and National Automobile Dealers Association.

He earned a B.S. in Marketing from Pennsylvania State University. His M.B.A. is from George Mason University, where he guest lectures on leadership & entrepreneurship. He was awarded the Most Outstanding Entering Student by GMU’s School of Management Alumni Association.

Dan is married to his college sweetheart, Michelle; they reside outside of Washington, D.C. with their three children.  He has climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro, hiked the Great Wall of China, cave-dived in the Yucatan Peninsula, run marathons, competed in adventure races, skydived, bungee-jumped and whitewater rafted just to stay sharp.

Brien Zamperetti, CASE

Regional Vice President of Business Development, The Expo Group

Brien joined The Expo Group in 2013 after an 18-year career with destination marketing organizations representing three of the top cities in the United States; Atlanta, Chicago and Orlando. He is respected for his integrity and commitment to the customer. He also is committed to the betterment of the industry at large and serves as a member of ASAE’s Foundation Development Committee and PCMA’s Achievement Awards and Recognition Committee.

Brien has provided service to a number of associations including American Association of Immunologists, American Staffing Association, Association for Fundraising Professionals, Association for Molecular Pathology and National Parking Association, Association for Manufacturing Technology, Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Institute, and Society of the Plastics Industry.

Brien resides in Falls Church, VA with his wife Michelle, and three children, Siena, Luca, and Carolena. He has a B.S. in Policy from Indiana University.

Chester simpson

Founder, chester simpson photography

Chester Simpson successfully handles assignments for associations, corporations, not-for-profits, blogs, musicians and publications around Washington, DC and the world. 
His images have been published in major magazines, books, movies, posters, videos, web sites and exhibited internationally.

He grew up painting, drawing and taking pictures in a town set in the middle of the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. In the summer of 1975 he hitchhiked across the US to accept a scholarship at the San Francisco Institute of Art and study photography. In San Francisco, he met two of the major influences on his life, legendary master photographer Ansel Adams, and Jim Marshall, the famous rock-n-roll photographer.

Rolling Stone magazine published his first picture in 1977, which kicked off his career as a rock-n-roll photographer. After ten years and several record covers to his credit he moved to Washington, DC and accepted a position as Director of Photography at the Pentagon newspaper, the Pentagram. While working with the military he was introduced to the USO and started freelancing as a tour photographer traveling with celebrity music artists all over the world to entertain our troops.

Chester has photographed 100’s of corporate events, 37 celebrity tours and has traveled on assignments to more than 40 countries.

David Lusk

Founder, Key Advocacy

Specializing in developing nationwide, affiliated grassroots efforts and relationship-based, advanced engagement programs for associations, nonprofits and corporations, David Lusk gets results. Since 2010, he has trained more than 7,000 nonprofit volunteers, advocates and executives in the C-Suite how to influence policymakers through the power of personal storytelling.

While at the Society for Human Resource Management, David launched and developed the SHRM Advocacy Team. Within three years, it was frequently recognized as one of the nation’s top key contact advocacy programs. He later grew the Alzheimer’s Association’s Ambassador Program to work with every member of Congress and also created the Alzheimer’s Congressional Team system, a network of volunteers supporting the engagement efforts of the Ambassadors locally. Key Advocacy’s clients include the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American Diabetes Association, the American Farm Bureau Federation, the Microsoft Corporation, The Nature Conservancy and the Ohio Association of Nurse Executives.

David graduated from Brown University with degrees in both Public Policy and Business Economics. He currently serves on the American Society of Association Executives’ Government Relations Section Council and co-chairs the GRSC’s Content Subcommittee.
